January of 2005.
06.16.06 THE CONTEST
And now the moment you've all been waiting for: thefour.org is holding its first ever contest. Submit a list of 5 questions that you would like to ask the band. The person with the most original, relevant questions is guaranteed to have them answered directly by Gary Grimes (Paul) and will also receive a personalized and signed copy of Gary's solo CD, Starhand Visions. The answers will later be posted on this site, the author getting full credit.
Submissions must be received by midnight on July 1, 2006 and are to be turned in via email. The winner will be notified by email shortly after the contest has ended, and will be required to provide their name and mailing address in order to receive the CD.
Please remember that the most relevant inquiries will be regarding the band itself. Anything too personal or that is a violation of privacy will not be considered. I give extra points for anything that makes me laugh and is written in good form. No computer language (ie: "GR8" for "great"). Family members and staff of thefour.org are not eligible to win.
Put your thinking caps on and hang on tight. If we get good response from this event, more contests will come along in the future. Good luck to you all!

As everybody knows by now, Greg and Jimmy will be leaving "1964" ... The Tribute after the May 28 performance at AROTR. I want to thank both for their friendship and for the laughs along the way. The staff at thefour.org wish each of these gentlemen the best of love and good fortune.
This site will be updated to reflect the changes within the band as time and materials permit. I'm rather devoted, but do have just a few other responsibilities. While I attend many shows in different areas of the country, I cannot attend them all, nor can the members of our staff. Professional photos are not yet available, nor is biographical information. I have spoken with Tom who will provide a bio as soon as possible. Once becoming acquainted with Terry, I will ask him for the same. It's possible that I may also get interviews some day, given the time and willingness of everybody involved.
It's understandable that visitors will want to see the changes in the band reflected on both this and on the official site. I cannot speak for the webmaster of the official site, but can vouch for the fact that websites do take time and money, and are almost always a labor of love. We want to get things done as quickly as possible, and everybody within the "1964" organization is committed to putting the fans first. The performances and rehearsals which make the shows as magical an experience as possible are the number one priority.
Please keep in mind that running a website often requires a collaborative effort. Anyone out there is also more than welcome to start one of their own, if they so choose. I'm pretty proud of the one that we have here. More great things are to come, as soon as they are possible. Thanks to all of our visitors and to the fans who keep interest in the band going. Have a beautiful Memorial Day weekend! ~Michelle Anna~

Listen to my new playlist on Rhapsody. It includes 2 songs by Gary Grimes, and some other stuff that I wanted to throw on there. This being my first effort, it was a test run. I did like certain songs that were for purchase only and did put them on the list. The Rhapsody player will just skip over these, so it'll be fine if you go to listen. No purchase is necessary! The Rhapsody 25 subscription is absolutely free, and allows you to listen to 25 full-length songs per month. At any rate, there are still 9 great tracks on my first playlist for listening to. My song descriptions were also a bit long (imagine that), but just hold your mouse over them, and the full comment can be read. I'll keep working on these and will publish another one, later.

The PBS special has finally aired in the Roanoke, VA market. It will now be distributed to 189 PBS stations throughout the country, at the beginning of April. Unfortunately, the band are not being notified of exact airing details. PBS conducts its broadcasts at different dates and times throughout the USA, so fans will have to watch their local listings. Any information that we do receive will be posted here. For anyone in my area, you might also want to keep an eye on the WGVU website. There are links on this page to the schedule and weekly highlights.

Listen to Gary Grimes radio! Gary (Paul in "1964...The Tribute") has his own pre-programmed radio station at rhapsody.com. Sign-up is required, but there's a free 14-day trial. If you like the service, it's only $9.99/month after the trial period is over.
Just to go rhapsody.com, follow the instructions for the free trial period, then search for Gary Grimes once the program is loaded. Gary's solo works are played along the likes of Todd Rundgren, The Moody Blues, Yes, and Pink Floyd. Enjoy!

PBS affiliate, Blue Ridge Public Television, will be filming "1964"
performances on November 29th and 30th, 2005. The final product is to
be distributed to public television stations on a nationwide scale. I'm
told that the end result will be something like "Spinal Tap
meets A Hard Day's Night". Read all about it, and
how you can attending the taping, here.
Thanks to Sandy Broughton from Blue Ridge Public Television for providing
this information.
