Personal notes/observations:
I feel that the liner notes say it all. Due to this, they are being
transcribed here.
We could never come up with a really good reason for 1964 to go
into the studio and make a note-for-note, sound-for-sound Beatle
album. The Beatles already did that. But when fans kept asking us
for a copy of our live show, we thought that idea could be interesting
because today's technology allows you to produce a really great
sounding live album. So we did, and our first album All You Need
Is Live is the result. It's been very well received, for which we
are thankful, and it got us thinking about doing some more recording.
We wanted not so much to make a record that sounded just like the
Beatles, but more a recording that was done in the same spirit as
their first album. We chose songs that are in our live show, but
did not appear on the All You Need Is Live disc. Many of these were
B-sides on the Beatle records, and they don't get heard as often
as the hits.
We spent a lot of time creating the sounds we wanted, then set
up facing each other and recorded all fourteen songs non-stop; just
the way the Beatles did their first record. We started rolling tape
at 9pm on a November evening, and finished nine hours later at 6am.
That's why we named this first Love In Action session Nine Hours
In November.
Over the last 17 years, we have seen that when you take the love
in this music and put it into action by performing it live, you
get to see how strongly it affects people. Affecting people is what
we've set out to do with this disc. Keeping in the spirit of the
project, a portion of the proceeds from Nine Hours In November will
be donated to different charities several times a year. The more
we sell the more we give, so thanks for helping us put this Love
In Action. The pictures you see at right were taken at a photo session
in Boston at Rear Window Studios, which is an authentic recreation
of the Abbey Road Studio 1. Beatles Gear-O-Rama!
